Botanical Garden of the Ozarks

Botanical Garden of the Ozarks

Located on 86 picturesque acres in northeast Fayetteville, The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks opened to the public in 2007 and promises to become one of Arkansas' premiere visitor locales. Situated on Arkansas Highway 265, the attraction feature nine themed gardens.

Each of the 2,000 square foot themed areas - Children's Garden, Four Seasons Garden, Herb & Vegetable Garden, Japanese Garden, Rock & Water Garden, Ozark Native Garden, Rose & Perennial Garden, Sensory Garden and Shade Garden - capture the imagination. In addition to the Carl A. Totemeier Horticulture Center, The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks will eventually include an amphitheater, boat rental facility, exhibit gallery, observatory cafe, education center, conservatory, special children's area, hike & bike trails and boardwalks.

Care has been taken to include features within each garden to highlight local artists and sculptors. The Vegetable and Herb Garden features stone artwork of a corn husk while the Children's Garden includes a barn-shaped entrance complete with a hay loft that greets guests to an enclosure that features a treetop loft embellished with metal tree sculptures. The centerpiece of the Four Seasons Garden is a large rust-colored egg-shaped arbor topped with a basket of multicolored slag glass. The Sensory or Butterfly Garden, features an arbor shaped like the body of a butterfly with wing-shaped flower beds.

The Rotary Peace Arbor, designed by Zed Johnson, emulates the work of noted architect Fay Jones and provides seating for about 800 people for special events such as weddings.
